The fire extinguisher is used to put out fires. But then why not wait for the fire brigade to come?? The lift, also called as the elevator works just like a well with the pulley system which helps us to draw water from the well. When you see a well, you firstly see a rope that is tied up with a bucket and passes through a wheel which has a hole in the centre and gets a stick passed through it (as in the picture). Then it can be very easy to draw water from the well by just pulling the rope. Similarly, elevators also work like the well’s pulley system. The only difference is that the pulley of a well uses our muscular energy whereas an elevator uses sophisticated mechanisms for handling the weight of people in the elevator.
